Logic Pro: When copy/pasting from one project to another, inserted region is replaced by another

Hi there

I feel pretty alone with this one, tried to find anything similar, but either it is a new bug that only happened to me or I'm doing something wrong.

My students recorded with their iPads a short rap section of a song with GarageBand iOS. They airdropped me their garageband-project, I opened/automatically converted them with Logic Pro to a .logicx-file, copied their clip (region) and pasted them in a different project (both Logic Projects open at the same time). I did it with so many different regions, never a problem, each region on its own audio track.

Since yesterday, when inserting the copied region in the destination project, the region keeps the original name, but the audio is completely replaced by another region that exists in the destination project.

Restarting Logic or my MacBook Pro i9 late 2019 16" 32GB didn't make a difference. I copied the region and inserted it in the same project and that works: The inserted region is the same as the copied one. But once I want to insert it to another open project, it randomly is replaced by another clip.

To the left you can see the original region, which I was successfully able to duplicate to another track in the same project. The moment I copy/paste or drag'n'drop that same clip to the project on the right, the audio is replaced by another region (but region name is transferred).

To me, it feels like something's wrong with the clipboard. I checked if the inserted region would be the last region I had copied in the destination project, but that didn't make any difference, the inserted region is always replaced by the same region from another track.

The day before yesterday I had installed GarageBand on my Macbook Pro thinking I could open the iOS GarageBands files directly, but it would convert them into a Mac OS GarageBand-file first. Since it didn't improve my workflow, i deinstalled GarageBand and simply convert to logicx.

What I also notice is that if I want to drag'n'drop the original region into the new project, it isn't inserted in the track I was aiming for...

I'm not a greenhorn and understand computers and logic pretty good, so I'm kinda desperate. Any ideas? It's happening for the second time with two other projects.

Kind regards and thanks in advance

Fernando
