Screen time - ignore time limit

Recently when I hit the “ignore for 15 minutes” or “ignore limit for today” pop up it’ll pop up again within a couple seconds as though it’s really trying to make sure I actually want to ignore the limit. It is super frustrating and annoying. Has anyone else had this happen? Is there a fix that I can’t find?

I’m using an iPhone Pro Max 13 with iOS 16.5.

Hello jjanglipe,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities.

We understand that you’re unable to ignore the time limit for an app on your iPhone with Screen Time enabled. We are happy to help.

Is the parent or guardian able to disable for 15 minutes and ignore the limits for a the day? We are asking as the parent will have to change the limits. Please see the information here:  Use Screen Time on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

"Manage Screen Time settings

Go to Settings > Screen Time. Then tap See All Activity, select a category in the list below and set limits.

App Limits: You can set daily limits for app categories with App Limits. For example, you might want to see productivity apps while you're at work, but not social networking or games. App Limits refresh every day at midnight, and you can delete them any time."

Let us know if you have further questions.

Take care.

Hi there,

Thank you for your response, but I am the parent/guardian…

I understand how to set up the various screen time limits/app limits, but my problem is that when I hit the “ignore for 15 minutes” button it pops right back up after 2 seconds. I am not unable to ignore it, I just have to hit the ignore button 2x before it actually takes effect. It’s like there’s a glitch or something because it just started happening after the last update or two.

Did you get an answer that solved your problem?

Please post it here for the other parents. If Apple didn't really solve your problem Id like to understand too.

I think they are doing what the tobacco companies did - make it impossible for parents to have control.

I have been asking the same Q for *years* and always get gaslighted by Apple.

My first teenager is already out of college and at a job. I was helpless in managing her screen time. Now the second one will get too old for this issue in a couple of years - Apple just give me and other parents the mother of all run-arounds.
