"Hide email address" problems

Hi all

I had the bad idea to use the function "Hide email address" on an internet form, available to iCloud+ users. Since then, some addresses I regularly use add themselves regularly and randomly to addresses that have to be hidden, which creates problems when I try to send them (using Apple Mail). Every time I have to go into iCloud and erase the address in question, even though I never made it active in the first place.

Is there any way to completely turn off this stupid function? This is quite obviously a bug. The problem only happens with Apple Mail on my Macbook Air (Ventura), not from my iPhone. If there's an easy fix I'm all ears, otherwise I'll just use another email client.

I also have a similar problem with Hide My Email randomly popping up on my MacBook Pro and interfering when I try to send an email. I talked to Apple support three times, and they tried to fix it—the last one just two days ago, which included re-installing the MacOS. Of course, it looked as though it was fixed since HideMyEmail occurs randomly.

I mentioned to them that it was probably a bug in Apple Mail since I had never used that feature. They did not record it.

Thanks. I tried to use another client to access iCloud, but I can't seem to configure a new account from anything else than Mail, the password is not recognized.

This bug has become so annoying (you'll see, it gets worse), that I'm now thinking about dropping iCloud altogether and using a third-party mail. This is worse than any Windows-based system I've ever used.
