Annoying loop behaviour in Logic

Logic Pro – at least for me – LOVES to loop things.

Every time I record some new material, loop is activated. Fine. No hardship. I just press 'L' after I record.

But the project I'm on has a lot of breath and clicks on the vocal. If I divide the comp to zero in on the unwanted noise, Logic, without asking, loops both of the new sections. Within minutes my vocal comp is total chaos, with unwanted duplicate lines turning up everywhere.

This mist be a preference thing, but anyone know what it's called / where it's hiding?
