Notes app multiline text edit

Hi,

I am trying to edit multiple lines of text at the same time in Notes app. In some other apps I can do it like shift+option+left click and drag up or down the lines. So with that option I can edit multiple lines of text at the same time. But in Notes app I couldn't the same functionality, is there anyway for editing multiple lines of text in Notes? Thanks a lot.

Hi, here is the example scenario for my need. From my clients I got some product IDs and I copy and paste those IDs in Notes (1 ID per line). Then I need to create some hyperlinks from those IDs so I need to write same part of the link in every line and in same place. Normally I use notepad++ in windows so I can copy the text and then select every line in same time with shift+alt+left click and drag. that way I can paste the same text in every line I selected which saves me separately clicking every line and paste the same text like 30 times.

Basically I am trying to paste a text in multiple lines without pasting it every line separately.

Thanks.

You just have to find a different app that can do what you want. You can type in multiple lines at once in Xcode. But for this kind of editing, Microsoft Excel is realistically much more powerful and accessible. Maybe you could do that in Numbers too. Then you can paste that content wherever you need. If you know regular expressions, or even if you don’t, BBEdit is a very powerful text editor.
