Imei number is incorrect

I recently bought a new iPhone 14. But my carrier is saying that the imei number is for a older phone not for what it is. It thinks is older than a iPhone 12. what is the problem?

Then there is a possibility that they sold you a stolen phone. I suggest that you return it and get a full refund. Typically, if the IMEI number is invalid, the phone has already been "blacklisted" by the cellular providers because it was reported as such.
