When I try to delete a place from a guide in the Maps app on macOS, nothing happens. The same goes for renaming. Deleting places that aren't in a guide works fine.
Any suggestions how to solve this issue?

Right. All the guides I have I've created myself so this shouldn't be what's preventing from deleting or renaming locations.
Something seems broken with Apple Maps custom Guides (User created Guides) - I also cannot rename or delete any locations I've added to my own Guides
If I understand your question, you can only delete a location from a Guide you create yourself.
I'm able to delete locations that aren't included in any guides; but for some reason locations that are included in guides cannot be deleted or renamed.
As I tried to explain and show in the screen shot, you can only delete places you add to Guides you create yourself.
