Multiple duplicate mailboxes are listed. My macOS is Monterey.

How can I get rid of the duplicate mailboxes?

Cleaning out excess Apple Mail mailboxes Apparently Apple has ignored pleas to do something about this, so it's time to restart the conversation. I'm running Monterey 12.6 on a MacBook Air. When I upgraded (after resisting as long as I could) to Monterey, Apple Mail became almost unusable. I have my own filing system under On My Mac, but Apple insists on adding another dozen or more unnecessary mail boxes, including many that are indistinguishable (at least by name): Two Sent mailboxes, two Junk mailboxes, two Trash mailboxes, an Archive mailbox, plus duplicates from my IMAP ISP and other accounts that are available below in the unlikely event that I should want them. How can I get rid of these unnecessary entries in the side panel?

Duplicate Mailboxes I have duplicate inbox, sent, drafts, junk, trash that appear in the sidebar as well as favorites on my Mac and below my favorites under the actual account. How can I get rid of the duplicates without deleting the original mailboxes? It wasn't like this prior to Big Sur, I believe.

IMAP settings a strictly for server email. When you create an On my Mac mailbox, those are static mailboxes you can move emails to or copy them. Be sure to name your On My Mac mailboxes differently from your IMAP mailboxes so you aren't confused. Naturally inbox will refer to the IMAP inbox in each account.

Hi a brody! I have 2 email accounts: earthlink and gmail. Both use IMAP email servers.

Yes, the mail boxes are on my Mac.

I don't see the accounts listed more than once.

The problem is that because of the duplicated mailboxes, my emails take many minutes to open and I can't control the mailbox behaviors.

Are you using POP email servers?

Are the mail boxes on your Mac?

Is your account listed more than once in the Mail menu -> Accounts submenu?
