icloud question

I recently upgraded from an iPhone XR to an iPhone 14. I was using about 28 GB of iCloud storage (of 50 GB total). I successfully restored the data to the new phone (14). When I try to back up the 14 iCloud says I do not have enough space. So I deleted the XR backup from iCloud and backed up the 14. It should have all the same data that was on the XR but it is only taking up 2.6GB now. Backup on the phone says "Your photo library is not included here because it is backed up as part of iCloud Photos."

I am concerned because I deleted the XR backup from iCloud.

Is all my data/contacts/etc. being backed up from my new phone??

What does iCloud back up? - Apple Support

iCloud backup doesn’t include information that is synced and stored in iCloud, like Contacts, Calendars, Bookmarks, Mail, Notes, Voice Memosshared photosiCloud Photos*, Health data, call history, and files you store in iCloud Drive.

*-If you had turned on iCloud Photos, your content is automatically stored in iCloud.

  • WARNING: If you delete the iCloud backup for your current iOS or iPadOS device, iCloud stops automatically backing up the device.

Contacts are not backed up either on iTunes or on iCloud

When you look deeply you will find that Contacts are neither stored on an iPhone nor on SIM. They are synced to an email account that you may have added and enabled Contacts. It could be Google, iCloud, AOL, Exchange, Outlook, Yahoo or any Other email client server.

When you enable Contacts in any of the email accounts they are displayed to you through the Contacts App. When you edit these contacts on an iPhone they are ultimately edited on the client-server.

Please see the pic below for a better understanding...

If you are unable to find your contacts which were stored in the email client, then try this --> Restore contacts, calendars, bookmarks, and more using ...

Check if the email account has been removed from the iOS mail app.

Add the email account that stores your contacts in the IOS mail app and enable Contacts.
