Apple Mail Sounds Cause Other App Sounds to Drop Out

Folks since upgrading computers to an M2 Max MacBook Pro and moving to macOS Ventura by default, whenever Apple Mail receives mail in the background while using other apps the sounds to those apps stop. This has happened when watching streaming video on Safari and using Zoom for example.

This has also happened wether I am plugged in directly to my speakers using the headphone jack or my AirPods bluetooth..

In all occasions the MacBook pro has been in clamshell mode as a desktop.

Thank you for the reply. I would like to keep the notifications on and fix the issue. I didn't have this issue before Ventura.

To trouble shoot further you can:

—A SafeBoot How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support will sort many anomalies

Takes a bit longer to get to the login screen, does a quick disk repair before it fully boots up, and certain system caches get cleared and rebuilt, including dynamic loader cache, font cache, etc., third party system modifications and system accelerations are disabled.

Login and test. Reboot  as normal and test.  Caches get rebuilt automatically.

a  reboot will put it back to normal mode.

This test will tell you if third party interference; most* extensions etc are not loaded in safe boot mode.

—Test issue in another user (or guest user) account Change Users & Groups settings on Mac - Apple Support

This will tell you if it a universal issue or isolated to your user/admin account.
