Hey Ron beard,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. We understand you're trying to free up storage space on your MacBook Pro by deleting Music downloads, but getting an error when doing so. We'll be happy to help out.

To clarify, are you highlighting our songs, and secondary clicking "Remove Downloads" when doing so?

Also, make sure your Mac is running the latest macOS version available for it. For help updating, check out: Update macOS on Mac - Apple Support

If all else fails, you may want to test things out while in safe mode on your Mac. For help accessing safe mode, check out: How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support

Take care!

Thanks so much for replying. I have followed the direction for removing downloads... while that process reduces the amount of storage used by Music temporarily, after a while they appear to be downloaded again, returning to the previous use of storage space. I cannot install the latest version of OS because I don't have enough space. I cannot back up my disc because I do not have enough space.

System data takes up nearly half of the space in my Macintosh HD storage.

I appreciate any help you might suggest.
