The lossless issue is still present in the latest version of iOS. it is beyond frustrating that lossless music can’t be used as the alarm tone even when downloaded to the fricking phone. This is such an embarrassment on the part of Apple for having this issue persist since 2021. “High quality” is not nearly on the same level as lossless and it’s a shame that this issue isn’t resolved. Do better Apple.

I can set the alarm on my iPhone on iOS 16.5 to any preset sounds, or ringtones, or any audio file in my Music Library, including synced/purchased/subscription music.

It should be possible for you as well.

How to set and change alarms on your iPhone - Apple Support

If ‘Radar’ is your default/last used sound, then tap that to change. On the page for selecting a sound, scroll up for a song selection. ‘Pick a song’ will further navigate to your music library from the Music app. Recently used songs will get listed as a menu option to make it easy to use it for other alarms as well.

Had to download the song I’d bought from purchased music. It won’t work from Apple Music so why it offers all the songs from Apple Music and doesn’t warn you to download the song you purchased is beyond me.

Apple Music

Scroll down to purchased music

3 dots next to song

Download

Make sure you’re choosing the purchased version of the song when setting your alarm
