Ventura performance issue

My Mac is very slow since I installed ventura. It takes up to 15 sec. to show the content of a folder in the finder. Same problem in open and save dialogs in applications… The problem appears only, when folders have quite many items (more than 500). But before Ventura I never had to wait for any windows to show content.

Problem is solved! I realised, that only directories on my external SSD were slow. I checked the transfer speed of my SSD to computer connection and it seemed ok. The only problem was, that the listing of folder content in finder windows and program dialogs took about 10 to 15 seconds depending on the number of files in the folder.

The solution was: My SSD storage was formated as MacOS Extended journaled. And that seems to cause problems in Ventura. I copied all data to another device, reformated my SSD to APFS and copied all data back to my SSD. Now it's working fine and as fast, as it was before I installed Ventura.

Maybe his information is helpful to some of you, having the same problems…

Boot into Internet Recovery (Option Command R) and from the dropdown menu: Utilities>  Disk Utility> run the First Aid on your Macintosh HD (and the "Macintosh HD-Data" volume as well if Catalina/Big Sur/Monterey/Ventura) If errors are found and repaired, run again until no errors reported.

Disk Utility>View>Show All Devices The best sequence is

1 Container level

2 Parent drive

To trouble shoot further you can:

I checked my Macintosh HD and Data using First Aid and everything was ok. Now I realised, that the problem seems to be my external SSD drive. Reading from my internal SSD ist fast as ever. Opening folders located on my external drive is slow, when there are many files in a folder… So it seems a problem of communication between SSD an my Mac…

any ideas what I could do?
