I have photos in Canon CR3 format on my iPhone 13 Pro (iOS 16.5) and I can view the photos, edit and all metadata seems correct. Works fine in Photos and Files app.
However, when I airdrop the same photos in CR3 to my M1 iPad Pro 11” (iPadOS 16.5), the thumbnail is black, I can open it and show metadata on Photos app. On Files app, it does not even open and no metadata
Are CR3 files not compatible with M1 iPads?

If the files also aren't working when you import them from the camera directly to the iPad then the issue may be with the Photos app in iPad OS.
Since there really isn't any other troubleshooting you can try, the next step would be to contact Apple and report the issue to them: Get Support

Yes, that is right. I am having issues with Canon Raw file on the iPad but it works fine to view and edit on my iPhone.
I can confirm that the device is listed to be compatible in the link you provided.
I’ve tried directly downloading the file and transferring from the camera itself. However that does not work.
Appreciate if you could share other ideas that may help. Thank you

Actually it’s the files app that is the one I’m having issues with. It works with photos app albeit not as it should be.
