Bluetooth keyboard battery level in menu & system pref is different

Menu icon says 64%, system pref says 100%. The batteries are brand new, rechargeables.

I've tried option/command/click on the menu icon (I didn't see anything happen). I've unpaired/paired.

This is a Mac mini 2014 running Monterey. Any idea what's going on?

bluetooth battery levels show only sometimes I use a wireless keyboard and mouse, and I have had this very annoying problem for a long time, but it got worse after upgrading to MacOS Sonoma: (1) click on the bluetooth icon in the menu bar, battery levels are almost never shown (sometimes one is, one isn't). Then (2) option-click on the bluetooth icon, battery levels sometimes are shown (and still sometimes one is, one isn't). Then (3) click on System Settings, click on Bluetooth, and maybe you have a 50% chance of seeing at least one battery level. Do something else for 10 minutes, then repeat (3) and voila, battery levels are there. Now if you just click on the menu-bar icon, the battery levels are there. What is so annoying about this is that these specific actions have unpredictable responses, and that complaints about it have been in the forum going back at least 4 years and Apple has never addressed it

Keyboard low battery warning I've been using wireless keyboards on my Mac computers for years. While the reminders that the keyboard batteries are low are a little annoying, having the keyboard die unexpectedly is more annoying. Batteries can't be replaced like in the older keyboards, so the only option is to plug in to charge (which is not always possible if using the laptop for teams meeting etc). I've hunted through the keyboard and Bluetooth settings, but can't find any way to switch on 'notify me when the keyboard batteries are getting low'. Can anybody help, please? *2020 M1 Macbook Pro, Ventura 13.2.1, Magic keyboard (touch ID, rechargeable via cable only).

A1314 Wireless Keyboard draining batteries My A1314 wireless keyboard is draining batteries at an alarming rate. in 8 hours it has lost 5%. I am using the keyboard with a Mac Mini M4. Keyboard: A1314. Firmware 0.5.0 Trackpad: A1339. Firmware 1.6.0 Mac Mini M4 with Sequoia 15.1 I have tried to update the firmware of the A1314 using this link Apple Wireless Keyboard (2009) Manuals and Downloads - Apple Support however the PKG file does not detect my 2009 Apple wireless keyboard despite it being connected via bluetooth. This seems an issue that is happening to alot of other people and was wondering if there is a fix? Thanks in advance.

This morning, I got an alert that "keyboard batteries are low." The bluetooth menu says the level is 64%, the system pref pane says 19%.
