Gif/ Images in iMessage disappeared

Why does my iMessages icon keep disappearing from iMessage? When I go to add a gif image for messages I do not have the icon. What happened to it and why? I am up to date with current iOS. I tried to reapply form the “3dot” menu and it’s not even an option to do so. I have shut down app and restarted the system, checked the region and keyboard. It has populated once and now it’s gone again. Help!!
