External Monitor not detected after Ventura system upgrade

I’ve been using an external monitor with my MacBook Air M2 for a while now, with no issue. However, I recently had a system update from Ventura to an updated version of Ventura. Now I can’t connect my external monitor! I’ve double-checked the connections with my Dock-they’re fine. I checked to see if I had the latest version of DisplayLink installed—I do. I tried to “detect” the monitor from “Display” in settings, but it doesn’t come up as an option to be displayed. I tried to restart my Mac. I tried to reboot my Dock even. NOTHING is working.

Has anyone else encountered this? If so, how did you fix this? Thanks in advance!

Try unplugging the monitor power and the power on the docking station, give it a few minutes and then plug them back in. Check if there is a firmware update for your particular make / model of monitor. Check if there is a firmware update for your particular make / model docking station.

Thanks for your answer—I did try doing that, but it didn’t work. I also checked for a firmware update for the monitor, but there wasn’t one. Believe it or not, the thing that finally worked was clicking on the “DisplayLink” icon (for the docking station) in the launchpad. Out of desperation, I decided to see what would happen if I just clicked on that, and BOOM—my monitor came back to life! I had to adjust some of the display settings, but it’s now working again.
