I’ve been trying for days to remove the battery cover to my AirTag so I can replace its battery, but it won’t budge. I fully understand how the procedure is supposed to work, but it’s not. Any tips for making it easier to remove?
In addition to @Rudegar's reply, it may be possible that the battery in your AirTag is defective and has swollen ... preventing it from being easily removed. Should this be the case, you may want to visit your local Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider for assistance with this matter.
I found my tag after it was lost outdoors for many months. I also could not open the back to replace the battery. Eventually I ran it under hot water, with the plastic side up, so as to not to not let water in. Then I was able to open it. Good luck
