Adjusting the tone volume on Airpods pro doesn't work

There is a bug where your AirPods tone volume preference is ignored while listening to music. Notifications will always play at full volume while something different is playing in the background. Any idea if there is a fix coming?

Or do I just have a faulty pair? You can test it yourself by setting the Tone Volume to 15% and playing a YouTube video while switching transparency modes.

Also, I've noticed that this setting does work for some people - How to adjust the volume of low battery w… - Apple Community. So do I have a broken Airpods model?

The notification volume is controlled by “Ringtone and Alerts” under the “Sounds and Haptics” setting. I agree this seems buggy - what if you want your phone ring at full volume, but do not want alerts in the AirPods blasting that loud?!
