It gets the occasional update centered on security and bug fixes. I find that it still works for everything I need, although I realize that it could eventually end. iOS 15.7.5 just dropped last month.

If you have AppleCare+, screen replacements are only $29. If there is no coverage, the out of warranty cost to replace the screen is $149 not including any service fees if they charge any.
