Use apple TV remote as the *only* remote for a TV

I would like to purchase an Apple TV and an accompanying TV. I will use the Apple TV and tvOS as the only software to watch anything on that TV.

Is there a way to be able to use the remote of the Apple TV always as the only remote ever, so that I can I turn the TV and the Apple TV on and off with the Apple remote only. Ideally even if both have been completely disconnected from power?

I really would like to avoid having to deal with two remotes and doing weird dances, turning stuff on and off and selecting the right input source.

When purchasing a TV what do I need to watch out for to make that happen?

Just got the Apple TV device and set up to turn TV on and control volume on my Denon AVR-S900W. The TV's HDMI-CEC is turned on, as is the Apple TV remote control of TV & receiver. Only thing that does not seem to work is turning On/Off receiver. Did I miss something? Do you have to double click the apple remote power button or something?

@foxyjoe & @Visitor Q - how exactly did you connect all these devices? Apple TV is connected to the AVR first? And then a single HDMI cable is going to a TV? Did you test other scenarios? How about if you'll provide another CEC-supporting device like PS5 or something? I'm on my way to buy a similar setup, and I need to be sure ;)

Also - which cables did you get? There are so many standards in here…

Thanks!

I am not sure, whether it is OK to ask for buying suggestions here, but what would be the best 40-43" TV that I can get for 800€ or less that is fully compatible with Apple TV and HDMI-CEC? Ideally also with AirPlay 2 support - just to make sure.

Apart from that I don't really care about anything else than image quality (4K, HDR, 120+ Hz, great colours and what else might be important).
