phone won't enter recovery mode. I know I'm doing it right. I've done it before many times on other iPhones.

How do I force recovery mode if phone keeps skipping over manual recovery mode and restarting and returning back to the apple logo and powering back on? I pressed top volume down volume and held the power button. it restarts like its suppose to go into recovery, turns off and apple logo appears but when the computer with cord suppose to come up it goes back and restarts instead.

A lot of the time you have to hold the button for a while. Your iPhone should appear in Finder if you have it plugged into a Mac. When the recovery mode screen appears (The computer with the cord, a message saying something about Apple Support), release the button. If your iPhone is still visible when you have it plugged in (in normal mode, not DFU mode), then try using recovery mode on your PC/Mac directly. Hope all goes well.
