Apple ID Management

I have two email addresses. My Apple ID - for my iMac -- has one, and my iPhone has a different one. I cannot make them the same because Apple tells me that the email is taken when I try to change the ID to one or the other. What do I do?

It sounds like what you want to do is merge IDs which is something Apple does not support officially. You would need to sign out of iCloud on one of your devices and sign in with the ID used on the other so both devices are using the same account. Note that doing this would entail some loss of data

It sounds like instead of simply signing out of one account and into the other you are somehow managing to try to set up a new account (which Apple will not let you do with an email address it has seen before).
