Logic Pro for ipad
I’ve read that Logic Pro will soon be available for the iPad. Will I have to buy Logic pro for ipad again if I have already purchased it for MacBook Pro? Thanks, Mutt

I spoke to three different people at Apple Support last week and none of them knew the answer to this question.
Now that Logic Pro for iPad has been released, I tried to download on my iPad but it wants me to pay for a subscription even though I, like you, have already paid for the full version on my Mac.
So I rang them again now and they confirmed that this is correct. If you want Logic Pro on your iPad you have to pay for a subscription, even if you have already paid hundreds of dollars to have it on your Mac.
Pretty outrageous, if you ask me.
I was planning on buying an new iPad Pro on the weekend, but am now reconsidering.
Apply is greedy.

Looks like it'll be fun as a sketchpad (which is how I use GarageBand - I'll bounce a track and then practice/write guitar or other solos against it before recording with the trad Royer-->1073-->Apollo chain) but of limited use to users who are mostly analog/500 series. I assume, from the associated movie, that it's targeted more at producers of urban music and other genres based around samples and software instruments.
Hello everyone,
It would be nice if in the same motion if Logic Pro for Mac borrowed somme GUI of the Ipad version.
The contrast and the separation of Plugins in the Mixer seems very well done.
A dark theme would also be a welcome change.
Yep, then Apple put up the pricing - which I saw and then posted in this thread.
Then it came out and that subscription price was correct.
That's the trouble with a static forum. When I posted "No one will know until it comes out", it wasn't out and neither was the pricing. Then the pricing was released, so I posted that. It was about 6 hours after my first post and my next post down in this very thread. That was 10th May. Why Apple didn't know that I can't say.
My reason for saying I gave this answer over two weeks ago was because I didn't understand how the people you spoke to at Apple didn't know this-or for them to look it up on their own site if they didn't know. It was in no way a slight at you. Apologies if it came across that way.
No one here will know until it comes out. We're all just users here. If someone did know the'y have signed a NDA so they wouldn't be able to say.
Maybe this is why Logic 10.7.x is so full of bugs. They've been di ck ing around with this instead so now we can have it full of bugs on two platforms.
Yes, it's been made very clear, they're two separate apps, from two totally separate App Stores. You'll have to pay subscription for the iPad version, and your desktop version has nothing to do with it. Yep, you're gonna pay.
Plus, there's no physical way for Apple to make a mobile app free to some users and not others, App Stores don't work that way.
FYI, I've been using Auria as a full blown DAW on iPads for YEARS. I paid once a decade ago, been using it since with no subscriptions.
Plus through in you don't have libraries in the iPad version. How will you ever get Native Instruments on an iPad? They don't have enough storage space realistically.
I gave the answer to this over 2 weeks ago - it was always on their website as of release.
I hate subscription only stuff too so I just won't use it. To be honest, I record a lot of audio (not so much midi and soft synths) so it would probably be pretty much useless to me. Maybe ok as a skethchpad, but not enough for me to subscribe.
Waves just tried to do it with their plug-ins but quickly back peddled when there was massive user abandonment of the platform. It won't be long until Mac OS Logic and Final Cut Pro become subscription only. Then it will be time for a new DAW.
Been waiting SO darn patiently for my IT department folks to give their blessings and allow 16.4 update to push through so I could use the iPad app with my paid OS app. I dunno. Definitely let down rn. Darn.
Looks like it's a subscription app, so yes, if you want it you will pay a yearly fee. (monthly, 3 years, who knows)
Thank you all for your replies. I’ve never liked subscriptions and prefer to make one full payment so I will probably stay with my Mac Pro version.
What I want is to be able to use real instruments from macOS (GarageBand/MainStage/Logic Pro) on iPad.
Hi octopi. Two weeks ago you said, "No one here will know until it comes out". Well, now it's out.
was looking for thread on mainstage still no news?
