Replaced for free?

My Apple Pencil (gen 1) isn’t charging since I’ve broken it and it’s less than a year old. Can I get it replaced for free?

Your device warranty does not cover accidental damage.

If you iPad has benefit of an active AppleCare plan, this being the optional (additional charge) plan that covers accidental damage of your iPad, then your Pencil may also be covered by this this plan.

If you don’t have an active AppleCare plan, then you have absolutely no coverage for accidental damage to your iPad or Pencil
