I want to disable the microphone/recording function within the text 'Message' field.

The microphone recording icon/button is where my thumb rests on the texting interface. This results in accidental activation, and conversations erroneously being recorded, which can very easily be mistakenly sent. I'd like to remove/disable that functionality from within the text field. Is that possible without disabling other voice-related features like Siri?

It seems like overkill to have two ways to create an audio message on one screen, especially one so easy to activate with no warning. Also, perhaps there should be a message warning users that they're about to send or record an audio message, or one prior to the message being sent. If there's no workaround for this, it seems to be a significant usability issue.
