How to transfer a few files from old MacBook to new MacBook? I’m using the migration assistant but I don’t want everything from my old MacBook

Migration Assistant does not require you to transfer everything. Instead, it allows you to specify broad categories:
if you need a few more files, you can enable Files Sharing:
System preferences > Sharing > File Sharing
