Transfer?

Your AppleID is the account with which you sign-in to Apple services. For most users, you will use the same AppleID with all of your devices - Mac, iPhone, iPad, AppleTV etc.

When initially setting-up or reseting a device, you will sign-in to iCloud using your AppleID.

Perhaps you are transferring someone else’s iPad to you? If so, the prior owner will need to properly prepare and reset the iPad - and will need to follow this process:
