Depends on what’s at the other end of the cable. [the little box (power adaptor) that plugs into the wall outlet]
An old Apple 5w USB-A “ice-cube” power adaptor is sufficient for your needs.
The smallest power adaptor in the Apple Store today is a 12w USB-A.
If you think you might ever buy an iPhone, a 20w power adaptor w/ a USB-C connector would be fairly “future proof.”
The 3rd generation, released in 2012 would not have a Siri remote. The first Apple TV with a Siri remote was the Apple TV HD, released in 2015. If it is any Siri remote other than the latest model, included with the Apple released in 2022, it will use the Lightning connection.
The photo below shows the remotes for the Apple 4K and 3rd generation Apple TV. The larger remote is Siri capable, and Is rechargeable, the smaller remote uses a small CR2032, non-chargeable battery.
It’s a Lightning connector, same as is used on iPhones.
Lightning usb C?
If you have the latest model of Apple TV, the remote does indeed need a USB-C cable to charge.
😳
Thanks for the “calibration.” 👍
I was NOT aware of that.
I have the 3rd Gen! Apple TV
My remote doesn’t come with a menu button if that helps
I have the one on the left
It seems you have found a USB-C cable. 👍
An android USB-C
USB-C is USB-C. It's neither Android nor iPhone. So, yes, that will work just fine.
