Packing MacBook Air for trade in

I received a box with no adequate directions. Can’t find any online. No foam pad. Just cardboard with a plastic attached sleeve and 4 short pieces of tape. Also a bubble wrap sleeve that’s too small for the 13 inch computer. Help!

When I received my trade-in box, it arrived pretty much as yours did. However, upon examining it I was able to figure out what to do:

  • Your MacBook will slide into the plastic "sleeve" inside the box. It's a tight fit, and will require a bit of "wrestling" to get it to slide in completely, but it does.
  • The bubble wrap, as someone else has mentioned, is for your power brick.
  • The return shipping label is either inside the box or can be located under the shipping label on the outside of the box.
  • The tape is used to secure the box shut.

Hope this helps.

Same thing here in November 2023. I'm wondering if the small bubble wrap is for the charging brick?

The instructions show a photo of cardboard inset that looks to conform to the shape of a MacBook, but no such cardboard came with the packaging, which is making me nervous...

Can OP or anyone else comment on the current packing in use for MacBook trade ins?

Specifically:

  1. Is it just a plastic sleeve attached to a non-shape conforming cardboard with folded edges?
  2. Is the small bubble wrap for the brick/charging cable? Is this expected to be returned also?

Thanks in advance
