Grey box appears when typing in Safari

Hi! Today a grey oval (or box depending on browser) started appearing at the end of words when I'm typing. I think I might have pressed something as it seems to have appeared out of nowhere. It does not appear when I'm typing this though which is strange. In Firefox it also seems to prevent me from using spacebar more than once, only moving the box when I try. I tried making a new user on my Mac but it appears there as well. I'm running the latest version of Ventura on a Macbook Air M1. Thank you!
