how do i add friends in the messeges app

If by "add friends" you mean add someone to your contacts from the Messages app, you can tap their number at the top > "info" icon > Create New Contact, enter their name and tap Done. This will save their information in Contacts.

How to add someone to a group text message

1. Tap the group message that you want to add someone to.

2. Tap the group icons at the top of the thread.

3. Tap the gray arrow icon to the right of the contacts, then tap Add Contact .
