Can‘t add any matter device to Apple Home

Hi all,

Here's the problem I'm having. I can't add Matter devices into my all new Apple Home.

I have tested it with the Eve devices for example. If they are based on Thread and Apple Home, then it works. As soon as Matter is in the game it doesn't work anymore.

The Matter devices work, as my brother in his Apple Home embed the devices without any problems.

An Apple Homepod Mini is used as the border router.

The architecture upgrade with the Matter support was already completed in the beta version of iOS.

Greetings everyone,

for my home setup I found the solution.

I was debugging a lot together with the vendor of my firewall and access points. Both are from Fortinet.

My access points are having local IPv6 multicast policies that were not visible on the first look.

After disabling the policies for "drop-icmp6ra" and "drop-icmp6rs" everything worked perfectly.

I could add/remove/control every Matter device without issues.

Maybe this will help someone in the future.

Any resolution to this? I have devices from Eve, MeRoss, nanoleaf and onvis. I get the same error. I have read that you can use a android device and google home app to add the devices then sync to your homekit environment. This clearly is a bug with apple and needs to be fixed. Seems silly I would have to use a competitor to add matter devices into apple home. I'm running the latest firmware on all devices, have the latest iphone 15 pro max, have home pods and the latest gen apple 4k tv.
