Plz help: how to switch to the "Insert" function while typing (to type over the text - like for the written translation, replacing letter by letter the text in one language with the text in another). In Win there is a button on the keyboard.
WHEN I PRESS FN + ENTER, the line simply moves down and the Insert function is not stimulated.

When I click Control button and click mouse, I get a much shorter list. I made my guess and now see I don't undestand you advice.

What is the version of your Word (as indicated earlier, mine is 16.54)?
Control click is hold down the control key and click on the mouse. The bottom border is the bottom of a word document, right between track changes and caps lock, just above the blue in my photo earlier.

Word Mac has a different way. Control click on the bottom border and a list will come up where you can check overtype.

On a Mac, I think this overwrite mode is only available in certain apps, like Word or LibreOffice.
I do need it for Word
