Apple Watch charging cable

Hi there. I have recently purchased Apple Watch Series 8. Is my USB-A charging cable from Series 4 watch safe to use on Series 8? I know it wont fast charge but its just I don't have a USB-C charging adapter as yet. I often use laptop port to charge watch as I work so would be good to know. Thanks in advance.
