Blocked number still I messaging

I’m running on iOS 16.5

I have 2 contacts that I have had blocked for months. To my surprise both were able to send imessages today. Naturally I went to verify if they’re still blocked on my texts, phone, mail and calls. They both still are blocked. I’m unsure how they’re bypassing the system or getting through but this is annoying. How can I fix this ?
