Apple continuously asks for payment update

I received a payment update notification which seemed strange since I had not changed anything. I completed it anyway and received a confirmation email saying the information has been updated but the notification won't go away. After entering the info, I have a payment pending on my credit card transaction ($0.00). I've tried signing out of Apple ID and signing back in, but the notification is still there.

Hi gottago5,

Are you able to download content from the App Store? If not, and that payment method has ever been declined in the App Store, you may need to add an additional payment method and completely remove this one to resolve the issue. This Apple Support article explains:

If your payment method is declined in the App Store or iTunes Store - Apple Support

How to complete your purchase if a payment failed or was declined
1. On your iPhone or iPad, open the Settings app.
2. Tap your name.
3. Tap Payment & Shipping.
4. Add a different payment method and remove the old one
5. Try to complete your purchase.

If you're still seeing a notification to update your payment information, it's time to reach out to Apple directly. Their billing specialists will be able to offer more guidance than we fellow Apple users can.

Good luck!

Kindest Regards.

Thanks for your response. I contacted a couple of Apple agents and we trouble-shot everything that I had tried. They suggested contacting the credit card company. I did so and it turns out my card had been blocked due to an unauthorized attempt though I was not notified by them of that. They’ve sent me a new card.

What was curious when I spoke with an Apple Wallet agent, that I could add my debit card but not the credit card (though it was on there previously (before I tried to sign out of Apple ID which deleted both from the wallet). That’s when we figured it was a credit card issue not an Apple issue. (FYI)

Hopefully I’ll get my new card in time before my subscriptions expire… :-)
