iPhone says Camera Unknown Part

No, Destiny241, this was completely useless as the error occurred *because* of the an Apple iOS update! The commenter said the Apple Store did NOT help him except to try to get him to buy another camera.

This is because your iPhone was repaired by a third party, which used a cracked or non-genuine apple part, which indicates that your iPhone has detected a part that was not created by apple. But your phone is the only one out of 500 million that had this problem. That means that it is coincidence that your phone's HARDWARE FAILURE and the update happened around the same time.

Good point. Depending on what version was installed previously, it’s possible (even likely) that the “unknown part” warning did not exist in the older version, and was added in the latest version. So it was always an unknown part, just not reported as such until the reporting feature was added.

Make that 2 phones. In my case I bought a brand new one from AT&T when it first came out. My phone has never been serviced and I just started getting that warning. Coincidence ? maybe. I am a surgeon so I understand coincidence and outcomes.

I am getting the same warning . I have never had any service on my 12 pro max . the camera seems to otherwise work fine. wish i could turn off the warning !

@B123code, Note that you responded to a 3 month old post. In the most recent post in the thread it was stated that the camera was not replaced.

Wrong, the phone has never been repair by a 3rd party. It’s never been repaired period. This warning came up as a direct result of an update.

This may be a glitch in the new update that failed to verify your camera then, also, if the iPhone in question is refurbished, this could be another reason why the camera may not be legit.
