You will need an iPhone 12, 13, 14 or SE 3rd Gen.....and.....service from your carrier if you want to enable 5G.

Tap Settings > Cellular > and look for the Data options.

iPhone XS can't detect 2.4 GHz network I have gone to several friend's houses to try to connect my iPhone XS to their WiFi.
