certificate trust settings modified by battlenet?

This has been somewhat answered in threads that you can find via google, however I am curious as to what specifically is modified by this game launcher? Blizzard's Battlenet Game launcher, when you download and install it, it asks to make changes to the system ceritificate trust settings? I am wondering if it has modified other certificates or if it simply installed it's own certificate (which is supposedly to allow you to connect through social media or to update the game without permission). Basically, am I at risk for any issues in regards to security?

Hi mikelz9,

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities! If you have questions about a specific third party app, we would recommend contacting the developer by following the steps below:

How to contact an app developer

Contact the developer of a macOS app
1. Open the App Store on your Mac.
2. Click the sign-in button  or your photo.
3. A list of apps appears. Click the app that you want. If you can't find the app, use the search bar.
4. The app's product page appears. Click Support or App Support. If you don't see Support or App Support, make sure that you're signed in with the correct Apple ID.
5. In the App Store on Mac, find the Support or App Support button near the ratings and reviews.

Thank you
