In Ventura and Sonoma, I have similar problems with a multiple BRIO 505 webcams out of the box. On multiple Macs (Apple Silicon Minis and MacBook Pros) the cameras do not turn on. I can see & select them in Zoom and Quicktime Player, but they don't turn on.

What works for me: Update the firmware, using Logitech's Logitune software, on a PC! Logitune is available for Mac, but doesn't work reliably to update the Brio firmware.

It works fine on a PC. Install Logitune; plug in the Brio; it reports a firmware update is available. Install that.

Now the Brios work flawlessly on my Macs.

Oh - and of the three that I just checked serial numbers on, the SN reported by Logitune has only a vague resemblance to the SN on the Brio 505 box. Same form, same location of numbers and letters, but they do not match.

Updates to Dave's answer.

Brio 505 works fine on some of Mac, such as my personal Macbook Pro (m1, Sonoma), yet it does not work on my company Macbook Pro (m2, Sonoma).

Without using a PC, I could update the firmware of the webcam on my personal Macbook pro using the software named 'Logitune'. It will automatically detect the webcam and report the available updates. Once installed, the webcam would work on the mac it originally could not.
