Mail problems in Ventura 13.2.1

In Ventura 13.2.1 problems with Mail:

•There is no Junk mailbox.

•Random messages are missing - they are received on my iPhone an older laptop running Mojave 10.14.6

•Smart mailboxes simply do nothing, remain empty.

•Unread mail is not marked - there doesn't seem to be a blue dot option, and although I have checked "Display unread messages with bold font" that doesn't happen either.

How can I resolve these issues? Or should I de-install Ventura and go backwards in the MacOS mountains?

Three things to do.

1) Boot into safe mode to allow the system to run diagnostics and fix what it finds wrong.

2) Update to Ventura 13.3.1

3) Restoring Folders in Apple Mail:

First click on ‘View’ in the Mail menu, then select ‘Show Sidebar’ (if not already visible)

Hover the mouse cursor over "Favorites" in the Mail Sidebar, click on the ⊕

Select “Desired Folder" from the "Add Favorite" drop down menu.
