Reducing noise for person on other end of the call for Airpod Pro 2nd gen

I upgraded to the Airpod Pro 2nd Gen hoping it would be able to reduce the background noise that the person on the other end of the phone call hears. However, they are still able to hear every little sound - magnified. If I close a cabinet or move something it is extremely loud on the other person’s ears.

A phone is meant for talking - but the telephone aspect of an iPhone is horrible.

Is there a setting I can change?

Hi I had this same problem for years there was a simple fix for me.

-When on a call slide down the from the top right of your screen.

-Select mic mode

-Select Voice Isolation

That should fix the background noise. if not I would suggest going to your nearest Apple Store or apple authorized technician.

GOOD LUCK!

Hi R_Estrada,

For help with checking additional settings you can see if the option for Conversation Boost is on. The steps below found in the article here can help you check. Customize Transparency mode for AirPods Pro (all generations)

"Use conversation boost

When your AirPods Pro are connected to an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, you can use conversation boost to focus on the person talking in front of you. This makes it easier to hear in a face-to-face conversation.

  1. Wear your AirPods, and make sure they’re connected to your device.
  2. On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, go to Settings  > Accessibility > Audio/Visual > Headphone Accommodations, and make sure Headphone Accommodations is turned on.
  3. Tap Transparency Mode, turn on Custom Transparency Mode, then turn on Conversation Boost."

However the settings for the AirPods are based on the amount of noise you wish to hear. You can view additional details here: AirPods Pro and AirPods Max Active Noise Cancellation and Transparency mode

This is the wrong answer and I'm annoyed as I keep seeing these answers marked as such. I've seen it so many times in other contexts that I am convinced this is a way of cheating some quote. I made a copy of this and will be submitting feedback.

This answer is about Face-to-Face. The person is talking about phone calls with another person as the person on the other end of the phone call hears everything the user is doing magnified. A problem I have as well.

I completely agree and when I went to Apple Support via chat it's like they didn't have analytical thinking skills because they gave me the same wrong answer. I'm asking about the other person hearing me and my background noise and so I asked if the noise cancellation/transparent/adaptive hearing affects the microphone thus affecting how the person hears me. I had to explain it several times in several ways.
