Thunderbolt to Display Port Cable Not Working

I recently bought a mac Mini M2 Pro and connected it to my Dell U2422H 24" monitor with an HDMI cable and it worked fine. But I wanted to connect it with a Thunderbolt to Display Port cable since I know the picture can be a little better.

Anyway I bought a Benefei USB-C to Display Port cable and connected it up and when I turn both the Mac and Monitor on it says no DP cable…

Is this just a compatibility issue or am I missing something else?

Hi Den

I have fixed the problem I had with the DD & PM software! It wasn't working since I didn't have the USB-C to USB-A plugged in from the monitor to the Mac mini - doh! I wondered why it kept asking me to plug something in - should have read the manual in more detail. Slightly annoying thing about this is that I loose a USB-A port on my Mac mini.

Still have yet to test the DP to Thunderbolt cable on a different system. I do have another Dell monitor on my PC so I will try that at some stage.

Do you have the Dell Display and Peripheral Manager?

see > https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/product-support/product/dell-u2422h-monitor/drivers

Is the Dell display set to DisplayPort input using the on-screen menu?

download or view the Dell Display and Peripheral Manager on Mac User's Guide,

If those do not help, try a high quality 8k USB-C to DisplayPort cable.

You're welcome.

You could have gotten a bad USB-C to DisplayPort cable. Test the Benefei USB-C to DisplayPort cable in some different ports and/or test the cable and display connected to a different Mac if possible.

If that doesn't help, then I would try a higher quality 8k USB-C to DisplayPort cable.

The other option, is to test a short premium certified HDMI cable to see if that produces better results than the HDMI cable that you currently have.
