Do Not Disturb/Focus still does not work on my iPhone 14 Pro

I have an iPhone 14 Pro with iOS 16.4.1, and I still cannot get Focus/Do Not Disturb to actually work. It's turned on, yet every call still comes through. I tried resetting the settings on the phone, but that did nothing. I'm not sure how else to fix this, so as a last resort, I have to actually shut my phone off whenever I do not want to be disturbed and want all calls to go to voicemail, which is highly inconvenient. Anyone have any other suggestions?

Your solution does not address texts and phone calls. These come through regardless of having DO NOT DISTURB on.

The second part of this is> Apple has no answer to this issue. Please also note that if you have selected apps so they won't/don't disturb that you will have to add any new apps that you download to your list. ALSO, If you go into Notifications and change any app settings, you will need to go back into Focus - Do Not Disturb and make sure their selected DO NOT DISTURB again.

Hi Rosalie,

First of all, condolences for those you have lost.

I have had the same annoying problem, and I found a post that explained that you need to go into Settings>Focus>Do Not Disturb>Apps and manually add all of the apps that you want silenced (essentially anything you have a sound notification enabled for). It is tedious but I am happy to report that it worked for me! This is a bug, not a feature, and hopefully Apple will fix it soon.

Good afternoon rosalie28,

It sounds like you are having an issue with Do Not Disturb, and we'd like to help.

Try turning off all of the Do Not Disturb settings, and then force restart your iPhone to refresh it.

Try setting up a scheduled Do Not Disturb period, without letting any individuals or apps call or notify you during this time.

Force restart iPhone - Apple Support

Use Do Not Disturb with Focus on your iPhone or iPad

If the issue persists after trying these steps, reach out to Apple to investigate this further.

Take care.

We have 5 iPhones, one 13, one 14 Pro, one 14 Pro Max, and two 15 Pro’s. All phones were updated with IOS 17.0.2. All phones do not work in the DO NOT DISTURB MODE regardless with way you turn on do not disturb. From the control panel or via settings and focus. Currently we have them set to 8pm to 7am. We have more than 20 hours of troubleshooting and found that the only way to (go around the problem) until Apple fixes the software issue is to go to setting > focus > do not disturb and choose Apps (click on it), make sure SILENCE NOTIFICATIONS FROM is selected and go to the + sign and add all your apps and choose DONE. Then go back to your DO NOTE DISTURB page and slide down to the bottom of the page and select the + sign > Add Filter. Once again, slide down to the bottom of the page and ADD the Silent Mode to the filter list. Then your preset times for your DO NOT DISTURB will work perfectly. Don’t forget if you add a new app to your phone that you will need to go back and add that app to the list of apps that you want to not disturb you. As for the 13 and 14 models we have, we found the only fix was to physical turn off the MANUAL silence button on the left side of your phone. As for that software problem (which Apple will fix). We’ve had no other issues with our 15 Pro’s. I’ve had iPhones since iPhone 3. Awesome phones and the 15 Pro is by far the best phone Apple has made. We all know when Apple puts out a new IOS or OS that it’s not glitch free and always come up with a software fix.

2/13/24: Same here. Apple Support via phone is useless. I have had my sleep disturbed multiple times as I have friends in earlier time zones. Apple acts as if it’s not a problem. Their inability to fix this is detrimental to our health. It’s iOS 17 causing the issue. We need to make Apple fix this ASAP! Any PI attorneys out there?

The only solution is to turn off your ringer on your phone. Then you’ll forget to turn it back on and miss texts and phone calls.

…and Apple used to be a good company. Sigh.
