I am having Issues connectioning Philips 329P1H monitor to MacBook Pro 16 using USB-C to USB-C
I got it to connect once by unplugging MacBook and shutting down, but ongoing it does not seem to stay connected

Could you let us know there exact model of Mac you have? You can find the model information and year under the Apple menu > About This Mac. That determines what monitors can be connected and how. should be supported but not working as you can see many many users with MacBooks with M1 chips are having issues with external monitors, look at the apple community. just want a solution
That 4K display should be preferably well supported on the correct USB-C cable out of your Mac.
Full-featured USB-C cables that implement USB 3.1 Gen 2 can handle up to 10 Gbit/s data rate at full duplex. They are marked with a SuperSpeed+ (SuperSpeed 10 Gbit/s) logo. Cable length should be 1 meter or shorter.

Do your cables meet that spec, including the USB SuperSpeed+ logo and length under 1 meter?
A display like that is switching near the limits of digital logic switching speeds. Longer cables or poorer cables will not suffice.
are you using any other adapters or Docking devices in the cabling?
