iPad keyboard numbers row at top

I'm brand new to IPAD; first ever non-PC device. Why don't any of the offered keyboards for the IPAD (mini) include a regular numbers row at the top? I've learned to deal with it, but hate switching keyboards, and even the "flick" movement to get a gray-colored number to appear is kind of a pain. Is there some kind of "policy" that prevents a regular, numeric row at the type like PCs or non-Mac products?

A popular third-party alternative, often seen to be recommended within these Support Communities, is Typefinity:

PegDogMac I just paid $5 for the Typefinity app for my iPad general 10 and love it. Make sure to read the advanced instructions for if you experience difficulty getting it to show up. I had to toggle through opening and ******** different apps that needed typing a few times in order to get the keyboard to appear. Some bug apparently from apple. But it works great now. Including a picture of my keyboard on the iPad!
