Apple watch alarm not sounding

Hi, I recently just got a new apple watch series 8 and have been using the bedtime feature on it as I always have on my iPhone. The watch‘s alarm has not been sounding though and only using haptics which doesn’t wake me up. When the watch is not on silent mode I think the alarm does sound, but it is still too soft since my wrist will usually be covered under my quilt, and it’s a hassle to turn off the silent mode every night which I’d usually forget to do anyways. It’s really annoying me with this happening because I like how the bedtime feature puts on a do not disturb mode and bedtime reminder, so I want to continue using it on both phone and watch instead of setting a separate alarm on my phone.

Is there anyway to make the alarm on apple watch always sound despite it being on silent mode, or can I somehow disable the alarm completely on my apple watch (but have the bedtime reminder and do not disturb feature enabled) and only have it go off on iPhone?

I’ve tried turning off the push alerts already which doesn’t fix my problem, and I like wearing my watch to track my sleep, so not wearing it wouldn’t really be an option for me.

Thanks!

All setting are set correctly (not airplane….) and I’ve restarted my phone and watch, yet there is still no sound for incoming calls, alarms or reminders. Haptics is working.
