I originally took photos on my iPhone 8. These are in my iCloud. However I’m about to get rid of my iPhone 8. Will I lose these photos from my iCloud when I factory reset my iPhone?

If you disable iCloud Photos in the settings for iCloud on your iPhone 8 before you start, you will not lose your photos in iCloud. Setting it back to factory settings will not erase photos from iCloud. Only deleting photos before you reset your device will remove them from iCloud.
