The ethernet is showing connected to my new iMac but it keeps using the wifi. tired turning the wifi off, reinstalling the ethernet but no change. Is there something I am missing?

In the net work system services, you must order them such that ethernet is at the top of the list. The top most service in the list will be the source of Internet access.

I have a similar problem, Ethernet intermittently loses connection with Xfinity broadband cable, with Ethernet at the top of the list. What could be the fix?
In addition, you might check your Ethernet connection to ensure that it is good. Maybe it is not a reliable connection.
